As Chief of Staff, Tom works closely with CEO Sema Sgaier and the leadership team to plan and execute strategy, empower talent, and manage operations to advance the organization's goals. With experience spanning the private and public sectors, he is passionate about applying innovative and pragmatic solutions to social problems.

Before joining Surgo, Tom served as deputy chief of staff for the federal health practice at Deloitte and helped clients assess risks, develop resilient strategies, and make budget tradeoff decisions. He began his career helping candidates and causes win at the ballot box and nonprofits improve their operations.

Tom earned a BA in government and politics from the University of Maryland.
