Sofía Braunstein

Associate

On the weekend, you can find me building community - either playing on my yoga mat as I complete my teaching certification or organizing for reproductive justice.

As an associate, Sofía provides research, design, and data analysis support across Surgo's domestic and international portfolios. Leveraging her understanding of health from the microscopic to the macroscopic, she believes in taking a human-centered approach in designing interventions to promote health justice.

Before joining Surgo, Sofía consulted for federal agencies and nonprofits on strategy and evaluation, and conducted fellowship-funded research on maternal health in rural Ecuador and migrant public health policy in Morocco. She most recently supported efforts in telemedicine, supply preservation, and rural health for the national U.S. COVID-19 response.

Sofía has a BA in molecular biology and global affairs from Yale University.
