Role Description:
Surgo is launching new market offerings and we are looking for someone who can help execute aggressive business development goals. As the senior manager for strategic growth for our business structures and US health work, you will work directly with our Vice President and CEO to lead our expansion plans in the US health market with private sector healthcare, foundations, and other partners and clients. In addition to leading our US growth, you will also set Surgo up for success by creating the systems and structures needed for our team to engage in successful client acquisition.
This is a critical role at Surgo’s next phase and provides an excellent opportunity for growth and exposure across US health markets. This role entails strong relationship management with a diverse set of partners, and collaborative work within the Surgo team. What you’ll achieve
Build and execute business development machinery including marketing materials, systems, and processes
Implement and oversee management of technology platforms in support of client acquisition and management programs and initiatives, e.g. CRM platform
Track contacts, communications, and outreach with prospects and potential clients and funders; manage follow ups effectively
Oversee development structures for and continuous improvement of proposal management processes, tools, and templates
Work with teams to develop and streamline marketing material including case studies, pitch decks, and capabilities statements
Landscaping
Identify new opportunities based on Surgo’s differentiators, capabilities, and overarching strategy
Lead new client generation and identification through leveraging existing relationships and fostering new connections and networks
Build and maintain a pipeline of high quality opportunities in US health with a variety of clients including private sector healthcare, foundations, USAID, and other clients
Conduct market research to identify and evaluate specific business opportunities and market trends
Oversee proposal development and execution
Lead "must-win" proposal opportunities, providing strategic, tactical, and operational support to senior leadership and program teams
Manage full-cycle proposal process to ensure submission of high quality, compliant, and competitive proposals while ensuring strict adherence to deadlines
Work in tandem with program teams to tell the Surgo story through proposal and presentation materials
Develop content and write proposals, collating information from the team
Work with the finance team to develop competitive pricing proposals
Required Skills & Experience:
A minimum of 7+ years in a business development role, with familiarity to US health sectors
Strong management skills with a track record of using these skills to generate new business
Strong relationships across US health markets and ability to leverage relationships to generate partnerships and new opportunities
Excellent verbal and written communications skills and proven ability to write for different formats, platforms and audiences including writing technical proposal and developing pitch decks
Passionate about data and demonstrated ability to convert data insights into simple stories using diverse set of mediums (written, visual)
Ability to manage multiple projects and successfully meet deadlines while quickly producing high quality work
Collaborative team player who can work effectively in a matrixed, “start-up like environment” and adjust to shifting priorities, stringent deadlines and last minute requirements
Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and fast-moving environment
Passion for health, healthcare, and tech
Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree strongly preferred
1-2+ years from a medium to large consulting firm experience is preferred
Must have a US work permit
Location: Washington, DC. We currently work in a hybrid manner in our DC office two days/week.
Travel: Some travel expected
