Role Summary:

We are looking for an experienced product engineer. This is the right role for you if you are passionate about building B2B data analytics products that answer tough questions in healthcare, and that clients love to use. Surgo is launching our first products, and as our first in-house Engineering role you will be critical in devising and implementing strategies to improve workflow and drive results. You will  work closely with leadership and the product team. You will join a dynamic and fast-paced environment and work with cross-functional teams to design, build and roll-out products that deliver the company’s vision and strategy. 

What you’ll achieve:

  • Establish goals, deadlines, and budgets for projects. Manage and execute against project plans and delivery commitments. Report on the status of development, quality, operations, and system performance regularly.

  • Devise and implement strategies to improve workflow and drive results. You will manage the overall software development lifecycle working closely with our Head of Product and other team members. You will create the best technical architecture and approach

  • Hire, retain, and supervise a team of skilled engineers. You are our first engineering hire. You will operate as a team of one at first and will develop team structure and execution strategies as we grow. 

  • Participate in product discovery. You will help to advise on feasibility, cost, time to value, and recommended technical approach. Innovate and overcome technology limitations to deliver a fantastic customer experience.

About you: 

  • Experience as a technical lead

  • Comfortable with estimating level of effort associated with technical tasks

  • Experience with data and analytics products for the US healthcare sector

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent teamwork skills

  • Tech stack: Tableau/Looker/PowerBI, ETL, GitHub, Jira/Clickup/Confluence, AWS 

  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or other related field a plus

  • 7+ years of experience

Location: Headquartered in Washington, DC / This role is remote friendly

Travel: Some travel possible
