FIGO World Congress of Gynecology & Obstetrics

At the 2021 FIGO (International Federation of Gynecology & Obstetrics) World Congress of Gynecology & Obstetrics, Surgo Ventures presented a series of interesting insights on contraceptive uptake and family planning behaviors from our work in Madhya Pradesh, India, where there is a substantial unmet need in family planning services.

Along with our partners, Clinton Health Access Initiative and Nivi, we’re deploying a wide range of analytical tools, including segmentation, causal AI, and predictive analytics, to better understand the drivers of family planning decisions, as well as the most effective methods to provide services and share information.

The details of our work can be explored in our four e-posters that lay out the objectives, method, and results of the following projects:

  1. Barriers and enablers to family planning uptake amongst women with unmet family planning needs in Madhya Pradesh, India: A psychobehavioral segmentation approach

  2. Beyond correlation: Causal drivers of modern effective temporary (MET) family planning methods uptake in married women who had at least one child in Madhya Pradesh, India

  3. The impact of Community Health Workers (ASHAs) on family planning in Madhya Pradesh, India: Current state and future potential
