Role Description – Apply by April 13, 2022!

The Director of PR & Communications will be the driving force designing and implementing Surgo’s overall PR and communications strategy. We are looking for a creative and versatile PR professional who will build Surgo’s brand, market our products, and bring a creative multimedia approach to PR.

  • Develop and oversee Surgo’s brand and strategic communications vision 

  • Position and market our products; pitch to clients and customers

  • Lead Surgo’s strategic messaging architecture. Assist team with talking points and guidance on how to position Surgo’s work to stakeholders including clients, investors, media, and public

  • Develop, oversee, and support a thought leadership strategy (op-eds, social media voice, etc.) for the CEO of the organization and senior leadership 

  • Develop and lead internal communications for the organization 

  • Maximize the impact of Surgo’s work through producing and distributing multimedia communications [including but not limited to press releases, opinion pieces, blog posts, social media campaigns, infographics, fact sheets, web content]

  • Manage and oversee vendors and contractors, determining the right talent and support to meet our communications goals

Requirements:

  • Experience working in tech, health, and/or startup companies

  • Self-starter with a passion for storytelling and ability to communicate complex technical topics to non-technical audiences

  • Strong eye for visual design 

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills and proven ability to write for different formats, platforms and audiences

  • Passionate about data and demonstrated ability to convert data insights into simple stories using diverse set of mediums (written, visual)

  • Collaborative team player who can work effectively in a matrixed, fast-moving, startup environment  

  • Ability to effectively alternate between thinking strategically and executing high quality tactics

  • A minimum of 8-10 years in a PR or communications role

Location: Washington DC, USA. We plan to operate in a hybrid model, with at least two days/week in the office beginning April 2022.

Compensation: Highly competitive compensation and benefits package
