Chief of Staff
Surgo Ventures, with headquarters in Washington D.C., is dedicated to solving health and social problems with precision. We do this by bringing together all the tools available from behavioral science, data science, and artificial intelligence to unlock solutions that will improve and save lives. We work globally: in the United States, the United Kingdom, and in low- and middle-income countries on issues like COVID-19, tuberculosis, maternal and child health, housing, and more.
Our multidisciplinary team includes global development experts, data scientists, behavioral scientists, and technologists who are skilled in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data on why people behave the way they do and how complex systems work, and in developing scalable solutions and tools. We are a growing, diverse team with big plans. We are now recruiting for a Chief of Staff to support our growing organization and work closely with our CEO on strategic initiatives.
As our Chief of Staff, you are a motivated and spirited entrepreneurial type that will work directly with our CEO supporting strategic initiatives and enabling our CEO to successfully execute on what’s important to the business. Including:

Chief of Staff core responsibilities are:
To serve as a trusted partner to the CEO and an extension of her role as the leader of the firm
Manage and oversee key CEO business activities
Development of budgets, pricing models of business offerings, data, and tools
The ideal candidate will have broad strategic business knowledge and experience from a medium to large consulting firm
Research, coordination, partner management, and implementation of new and current initiatives
Support key organizational processes such as annual planning and board meetings
Coordinate with members of the leadership, and other teams
Stay up-to-date on priority topics and prepare briefs and presentations to keep the CEO informed of trends and developments in the field; prepare weekly reading stacks
Analyze existing research, develop a strong POV on the market/landscape, identify gaps and opportunities for Surgo Ventures to engage, and make recommendations to the CEO and team
Support CEO’s partner management and communication activities
Develop and review internal and external communications: draft reports, presentations, and other materials
You are highly organized and an excellent communicator (written, orally, listener)
Ability to prepare presentations that are presented up to leadership and board level
Develop, manage, and execute a streamlined partner management system: review upcoming meetings, prepare materials, and follow up as needed with materials (data, proposals, etc.)
Core Experience and Knowledge:
Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree strongly preferred
2-5 years related experience
1-2+ years from a medium to large consulting firm experience is required
Interest and experience in health policy, data, and technology are a plus
Background developing high impact, well-written presentations, and written reports for senior leaders
High level of confidence with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and ability to quickly master other software as needed
Knowledge and experience with technology in general and interest in seeking and exploring new business management tools
Excellent project and time management skills
Proven track record of effectively interacting with and supporting senior management
Must have a US work permit
Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid work policy)
Compensation: Competitive
Travel: Minimal travel, may include some domestic and international travel (when possible post-COVID-19)
